Broadhead Family Newsletter

October 2006

This month we will go in the order I was sent the entries. I hope this is working out for everyone. Let me know if it isn’t. Camille also wants everyone to know that she is putting together the calendar and needs everyone to turn in pictures and a favorite quote from a prophet or General Authority. She needs two pages worth of pictures per family and you can email or mail them. I am sure I forgot something, but you know where to find me. Love you all Heather

Kimball entry:

The month of October has been a fun one for our family.   The highlight is yet to come tomorrow night (Halloween)Isaac and Meagan are very excited to go trick-or-treatingKip and I are still trying to brain wash them about what kind of candy to choose when given the chanceAfter watching Peter Pan last month Meagan decided she was going to be TinkerbellIsaac thought it would be fun to match (I think  he gets it from me, the poor kid) so he is going to be Peter PanI am including a pictureWe had our ward party on the 20thThe kids and I somehow talked Kip into dressing up like Captain Hook, and I dressed as WendyOur family won the Best Family Costume awardOf all of the things we have accomplished together, it was quite the achievement for us!

Isaac had a great birthdayThanks to all of you for remembering him and making him feel so lovedHe kept counting his birthday cards and saying “Eight people love me!”The present Isaac has played with the most is the football I bought for him at the dollar store, isn’t that how it goes?  He plays his last t-ball game tonightSince it is now dark here at 6:00 he is pretty excited that he gets to play under the lights!

Meagan is so much fun for me to watch latelyShe is in that pack-rat stageShe will get a grocery bag out of the cupboard and fill it with anything she can findShe then bids us farewell and walks into the other roomWhen she returns she demands that we say “Welcome back!”  It is pretty funnyHer favorite stuff to carry around in her bags is her baby and all of it’s accessoriesShe was pulling around my scripture case filling it with things this morningI smiled as I watched her. She smiled back and said “I’m a good little mom, huh?”

Kip is keeping busy with work and Elders quorum stuffNext week he gets to spend 5 days in Provo and go to the Wyoming gameHe is going for a recruiting trip and gets to organize a tailgate party and all kinds of fun stuffIt’s nice when you can get paid to go to travel across the country and watch your favorite team playThe kids and I are pretty jealous, but we’ll just have to have our own tailgate party in the back of the van or something.

As for me, I am still keeping busyI complained enough to get a new stove this monthI would send you a picture, but somehow I don’t think you would all find it to be that exciting.

Zirker entry:

Not much has changed or happened here this monthDarrick still loves schoolI had the opportunity to go in and be his patient this last weekIt was fun to see him in actionHe cleaned my teeth, took x-rays, you know the worksI do not recommend the Ultrasonic for getting your teeth cleanedIt is a little roughMy teeth feel great thoughIt was a nice change for him to look in a mouth that was not full of decay or chew etc. for onceHe is excited to get into private practice especially for that reasonSpeaking of private practice we have been busy looking for jobsWe don’t have any secure leads or possibilities yet, but hopefully in the near futureIt is starting to become a little stressfulIf anyone knows of any good opportunities that we would be interested in, let us know.

Iowa is such a pretty place in the fallWe went to take some family pictures out and about the other dayCamden kept finding all kinds of pretty leaves, weeds, berries and you name it that “we can use for crafts.”  They have been harvesting the corn lately and she loves to give updates on that as wellWhether it is green or brown, tall or short, and you name itThere are so many trees around and it is just gorgeous with all of the fall colorsIt is really starting to get cold though.

Camden and Dakota are still a ton of funDakota has learned enough about princesses already to know what she should fight Camden forIt is funny how that worksThey had a great time trick-or-treating tonightThey both looked so cuteAt the first few houses Dakota was trying to give her candy awayBy the end she knew what the game was all aboutCamden has worn her little tinkerbell dress everyday since I made itShe loves being a princessThey have so much fun togetherDakota doesn’t know what to do when Camden is sleeping or not aroundCamden loves introducing her sister to everyoneWe can’t believe Camden is 3 nowShe likes to remind me and everyone else that she is a “big girl.”  Both girls go in for their checkups next weekWe will see if Dakota has overtaken Camden in the weight department yetWith her running around all of the time she has really started to slim downWe sure love our two girls!

We are so grateful for all of you and for your love and examplesWe love you all and hope that you have a great November.

Carolyn entry:

Basically what is going on my life right now is that I am so happy and that life is good.  It has been extremely hectic for me it seems like sometimes though. I am sure you all know what that is like. Anyway, I recently made a wedding cake for a friend of mine and it turned out pretty good if I do say so myself.  I couldn't have made it through without mom though. I loving doing that kind of thing and I know it is definitely in my element of enjoyment. Hopefully we will be able to get a picture of it put on the newsletter so that you can see it.
Also, other things are going on my life that have made things excitng.  I got a raise at work not a very big one needless to say but every little bit helps.  I think I'll probably end up working there a liittle bit longer than I planned on but it is a great job.  Oh, by the way my new address for anyone if you need it is 562 Legacy Lane.  It is a nice place,  a lot cheaper than our last one but it is also substantially smaller. It has a nice kitchen area though which I don't mind at all.
I recently went on the first date I've been on in a long time.  The guys name is Nolan and he is really nice, and probably one of the most intelligent people I know. He has Masters Degree in Nuclear Engineering from Texas A&M!! It is kind of interesting how we ended up going out because he is the only one I was interested in at the branch and is also one Brother Belnap told me about when Nolan used to go to the Idaho Falls Institute.  So it was just kind of random. I'm not sure how old he is but he works at the site (INEL) and really enjoys it. That is about all I can say about it.

Happy Halloween EVERYONE! Happy Birthday to Camden and happy late birthday to Isaac!  Happy late anniversary to Camille and Darrick!
Well, to end on a happy and good note and I have decided to insert a quote each month because that is just something I do and love I hope you enjoy it. I love you all very much and I am so grateful for you endless examples. Life is amazing.

QUOTE OF THE MONTH:
Ok so I have a couple this month because I couldn't choose just one:
"..........Magnificent is your future, if you will take control of it and if you will decide now that you will not let your life drift in a fruitless and aimless matter."  -- President Gordon B. Hinckley

"Maybe we should quit worrying so much aobut trying to changed other people around and worry more about changing ourselves." ---Linda J. Eyre

These quotes are probably needed more for me than all of you but I know they are true and important in everyone's lives.  LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL!

Dad, Mom, and Devin Entry:

This has been a good month.  Things have calmed down a little now.

Dad and Devin went to Montana right after spud harvest.  They took three of

our heifers to the Nile sale.  They did very well and sold all three for a

great price.  They took Jacob Dexter with them for a little extra help.  He

kept saying "this could be very addicting!" They all had a good time and

felt like it was profitable in many ways.  They brought two new steers home

that they bought from Rob Brawner.  He is the guy we have bought steers from

for the last 2 years.   We are also trying to sell our steer and bull calves

from our calf crop this year.

Devin ran the scrapper for Spud Harvest.  He felt pretty good about that

and made almost $1000.00 for his work.  He was glad when it was over though. Now he wants to start spending his money on his truck. Devin was  asked to the Halloween Dance by a girl who is a Senior thisyear.  Her last name is Crittenden.  He still doesn't know what he is going

to dress up as.  He gave his project in Mrs. Zirkers class today.  He had to take 30 minutes talking about Brazil.  He did a good job.  He even served Brigadeiros and Moose de Maracuja.  The students loved it.

Dad continues to stay very busy at work.  He is also enjoying his new

calling as Sunday School President.  It is very nice to have him home on

Sunday and Tuesday nights!

I continue to teach preschool and do everyone's errands.  I live an

exciting life.  The dogs and I have become quite close because I am their

care giver now.  Devin is just too busy!  We do have a couple of people

coming to look at Buck to see if they can use him.  But, Mia is definitely

going to continue to be part of the family and she continues to find a way

to get out of her kennel!  I have also been mowing all the lawns and bagging

all the leaves that have fallen so far.  It is a lot of work, but sure looks

nice at least until the wind picks up  and fills the yard up again.

I am trying to study 'excel' a little every day so I can start using it

more efficiently. Dad and I are getting up early every morning and

exercising. It feels good to get back to some kind of routine and working

out again.

Dad and I went to a dinner tonight and hosted a couple from Springville.

He is a multi millionaire, is 68 years old and still running.  His name is

Hal Wing and he owns a company called "Little Giant Enterprise" They made

ladders.  It was very interesting to talk to him and his wife.  They are

here to speak at an Entrepreneurs workshop on Campus.  He owns 44 cars and you should have seen the two rings he had on....HOLY COW!!!  He just bought a farm in Nephi also. Well, enough of all that.

We hope everyone is doing well.  We are proud of all of you and love you

all so much.  We pray for you daily and we are so thankful that you are

doing so well and have the desire to do what is right and serve the Lord.

Love, Mom , Dad and Devin

Moulton entry:

What can I say? Our lives are busy and happy. We spent the day before Halloween at the California Science Center and the Natural History Museum. We loved it. We especially loved having Trevor with us. He took the day off and we had a great time. Harper and Tanner also started their swim lessons that night and now they will go twice a week. They are doing great. Our war Halloween party was really fun and Trevor loved it because all he had to do was help decorate our car and hand out candy and then because he is a High Priest he had to help clean up a little. I am including a picture of our Trunk-or-treat van! Halloween was busy and fun. This is a great city to be a kid in. We had parties at school and then we went to the dentist! They were so nice to give Harper and Tanner great prizes for being the only kids to come in on Halloween. Then we went back home, ate dinner and went to Main street here in our city for a little party they were throwing. Then we walked home and trick or treated the whole way. There were kids and parents everywhere. It was so much fun. Trevor’s work is having him travel quite a bit now and we don’t like that but he got to enjoy a Monday Night Football game in Dallas last week and hopefully he will get to see some fun things in Chicago and Denver this month. I continue to find things to keep me more than busy and I am really enjoying the wonderful weather to play tennis in, ride bikes in, and just be outside or have the windows open. It looks like we will be in Las Vegas for Thanksgiving if anyone wants to stop byWe love you guys and hope you are all doing well.

Love, The California Moultons

Special Interest Section

Carolyn asked Darrick and me to write about our four years of marriageI am sorry to say that it will be a little one sidedI tried to get Darrick to give some input, but he has been really busy lately and I didn’t give him a whole lot of noticeHopefully something I say makes sense.

It is crazy to think that we have been married for four yearsIt seems like we have been married forever, yet on the other hand it seems like we just got marriedIt feels like there has been a lot going on in that timeWe both graduated from BYUDarrick started dental school, we had 2 children, bought our first house, and many, many more thingsIt is really neat being so close to Nauvoo and being able to attend the temple where we were sealed for time and all eternityIt is an amazing placeEach year in October since we were married we have taken our picture in front of the templeIt is fun to see how things changeThe first time was at our wedding obviouslyThe next year I was eight and a half months pregnant with CamdenThe following year was with Camden as a one year oldLast year it was the three of us with me being about eight and a half months pregnant againThis year it was with all four of usIt is really fun to be able to look back at each year like that and be grateful for the many blessings that have come.

My first memory of ever seeing Darrick was one day when he was in a suit and tie and heading off to work at the temple.   How much better can you get than that right?   I could really tell right from the beginning that he was focused on the right things and that his life was centered in the gospelHe really had his priorities straightHe also proved to me many times that he was a hard workerWho would want to clean out old repossessed homes filled with cat urine and who knows what else.  He didn’t stop thereHe worked hard at school and at serving others at wellI really liked how laid back he wasHe was really down to earth and could and would be a friend to any and everyoneWe had a great time dating ; from climbing trees, or long boarding, to cheating together in some kind of card game(They were Rook cards J) He really “knew how to have fun.”
I really love how Darrick doesn’t sweat the small stuff. I have learned a lot from him in that areaHe has faith and knows that things will work out, and they always doDarrick has a great sense of humorHe can really ease the tension on things when something has gone badI have really learned to be more positive as wellI have learned so much in marriage and I think that he would say he has tooMarriage is a great thingWhen I let myself I learn and grow from him and his example everyday.

Carolyn also asked me how we are growing together as a familyI think that I would have to just say the basics:  FHE, daily scripture study and prayer, and temple attendanceI think that those are the biggest keysIt is amazing how much a 3 year old can make you really dig in a look deeper into a scriptureCamden is always asking  questions about  one thing or anotherFHE is great because you focus on what is really important in your familyWe love to spend time together and that helps us grow together a lotWe don’t always get a lot of time, so we try to enjoy the time we getThe kids love to play fumbleruskie with dad while mom is cooking, or everyone dancing with the glow sticks at night just before bedtimeI think that it is often those little things that help you grow togetherAnother big thing is readingMy girls both love to readThey are always bringing one book after another to me to read to themI think that this lap time is a lot of fun, and helps us spend time to grow together.

Thank you for letting me write this articleIt was fun to sit and reflect on these thingsMaybe I will be able to get Darrick to write a little in the next month or soJ
